Assigned Certifier
On 01/03/2014 new regulations (S.I. 9 of 2014) relating to the commencement and certification of construction works came into effect.
For most building works including the construction of a new dwelling, the extension of a dwelling by more than 40m2 and any work that requires a Fire Safety Certificate the new regulations apply.
The new regulations require that certificates of compliance and other documents must be submitted with Commencement Notices.
The requirements include;
- The nomination of a competent 'Assigned Certifier' to inspect & certify the works
- The assignment of a competent builder to carry out the works
- The submission of certificates of compliance on completion of the building works
Any commencement of works after 1st March 2014 must;
- Include a completed online assessment of the proposed construction approach
- Include a notice of assignment of the person qualified to inspect and certify the works
- Preliminary inspection plan around the stages of construction
This means that all building projects require the inspection services of an 'Assigned Certifier'
